This is a beautiful piece of film. Appleby’s song is lovely and straightforward. Hansen’s video is likewise understated yet virtuosic - filmed in one take near dusk on Seattle’s Lake Washington with only a paddleboat, a canoe, and a guitar. When they paddle under the bridge you’d expect Hansen to loose all of his light, yet he manages not to, without the aid of any extraneous lighting setups.
